After two long and inertial days of weekend (often my room mates yell at me, for not moving even an Inch on weekends) I was back to work, One of the good thing that happened this weekend was, the movie SWADES by Sharukh Khan.
In A5/13 (We fondly refer our 1BHK flat) we might have seen this movie a 100 or more times, whenever almost all the time it is aired on any channel. God knows how we come to know that it is being aired!!
We all room mates typically hail from North Karnataka; in fact every one made a living out of A5/13 in its past 5 years of glory belonged to same region. Now coming back to “the topic”. For those who have not seen SWADES it is about how NASA working Indian Engineer comes to take his grand mother to USA, and how he gets influenced by the situation in rural India and finally helps the villagers to produce electricity, even leaves is job to return to SWADES to bring change. Now after the movie one of my room mates turned over and said, “how did this movie flopped yaar!!” I said, these peoples don’t like such stories they want all typical chumma chati and “notanky”. Then he said true but what a single person you me or any one do to help our country change. I remarked!! Arre do not think of the nations take one village and improve it my room mates said, then we had this discussion what village needs in order to be good village and how we will achieve this suddenly one of my room mates said any one for smoke and chaay at outside bhayya tapari, and we all said yes and went to away the SWADESH, THE CHANGE, The IDEAL VILLAGE faded in the memory may be until they air the movie again.
By reflecting on to the discussion what we fail to identify was that, there is always a one person leading and rest follow be it, Mahatma Gandhi or be it Martin Luther King or Be it Bhagath Singh, the country having 60% of its population below 30, having greatest examples in history don’t visualize ourselves as leaders of bringing change. A lot more than that we are more concentrated over the inflation over the tax slab being snubbed, and to the extreme latest Aarushi’ s Murder. I know these are the issue that affect us But, I fail to understand that why we are not focusing on the root causes behind them, why nobody is talking about the villages of India where there is no electricty, no hospital, no school, Not even proper road to reach!!
Latest Blog by Rajdip Sirdesai talk’s about the being face of the Change: or who will be our OBAMA?? It really touched the chord, but I really wonder how we do this!! The youth are not exposed to the fact on what we need to care, care beyond ourselves our salaries , price hike, and the girl next door, the traffic the infinite gadgets that are thrown at us everyday!!
The answer is EDUCATION: in the freedom fight, we know how the mothers, the fathers educated influenced the society which in effect turned the tide for our nation. How do we achieve that???? The million $ question that need immediate attention.
We are talking about social change if cannot start this now, our coming generations are the ones who suffer.
We will do domething???????
Love.
